Part of our thematic switch has been my desire to add some mummies to the mix.
But, not your typical mummies. Rather, inspired by the Chachapoyas mummy bundles.
So, I have set out to make my own little mummy. Or three. Maybe more...
Anyhow, I'm basing Steve on Bob. But, since steve is going to be fully corpsed, I saw no reason to really go through with ALL THAT MACHE. So, we just left Steve all duct taped, and are corpsing right on top of that. As such, I've been able to make leaps and bounds on Steve in just a few days.
Still have loads of work to do, but I'm at a point where I have to be patient and wait for this to fully dry. Have the hands, feet, and lower jaw all sculpted, but can't put them on till this is dry and I can remove the duct tape support holding the arms in place. Probably be next weekend before I can get any more serious work done on him.
Oh, and in case you were curious on the name:
YouTube- lets call it steve

Your pose is really spot on. I hope it dries fast so I (we) can see new updates on this! Very cool idea.

Very cool. I have done some pieces based on the Chachapoyas mummies. Here is a pic from several years back.

I love that one, Krough.
I'm rolling around in my brain ways to finish Steve here.
It's going into a blacklit area, along with my Tzompantli. And, I've loved the UV paint on the skulls so far.

I'm torn between finishing these mummies up with UV paint, or more traditionally, then lighting them with pin spots.
I'm not limited to flourescent colors on the UV paint, and can get browns and tans just fine. However, finishing them in a more traditional sense would allow me the option of using them in a wider variety of settings. (they could potentially fit the lab setup we do for the school fundraiser)
hmmm...
