Ok I have some round concrete form tubes that I want to use as pillars for my graveyard fence. what would be the easiest way to make them look like stone?
The tubes are about 12 inches round and made of cardboard.

Although I have not tried it you can use wall texture. You can trowel it on. I found this searching for faux (or fake) stone.

Faux paint them just like you would any other prop like a grave stone.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

You can buy textured spray paint that has a fantastic stone look and feel. It's available in any hardware store. It does tend to run just slightly more costly than a normal base color, but it doesn't sound like you'd need more than a can or two.

Here's some other options to add to the mix: If you want it to look more like concrete, paint it with Drylok. It has sand in it. Alternatively, you could toss sand into some regular latex paint. Heck, I think you could also throw in gravel....
Here's a pic of the texture Drylok leaves:
It you want it more bumpy, roll on monster mud with a roller. Here's what that texture looks like:

Paint your base coat with gray or whatever color you want your stone to be then use a short hair brush to "fleck" different shades and hues onto the stone to add texture and depth. If done correctly your tombstone will look like granite when you are done. Finish off with some sort of clear coat for protection and it will also help with the appearance of polished granite.

I use mortar mix mixed into latex paint. I tint the paint to a gray tone, add the mortar and roll it on. Let it dry and then dry brush a light gray to bring out the grain. Looks like granite or cement when dry.

I understand that driloc also gives a little more strength and seals it from the weather.

DRYLOK. Its the best thing i've ever used and it will cover lots of area and cost you a lot less than the spray paint stuff. I fyou want a more gritty look then add more sand to the drylok.
