Just starting on my first 3 ax head and was wondering what is the best servo control board? Is it better to use several 4 / 8 servo board or get a 32 servo board for future expansion and have it all on one board? I'am leaning towards using the smaller ones thinking if i have a failure of one, it would be easer, quicker and cheaper to replace a small one and not have all of the props down at once?

The SSC-32 is probably the best value. You get 32 channels for $40, which is less than most other boards that have far fewer channels. I've not had a problem with mine in 2 H'ween seasons (except having to resolder the power supply connector when I accidentally torqued it off).
To top it off, most 3-axis skull users seem to be using this board, so there's plenty of support out there.

If you can do some pbasic programing I would use the basic stamps or use the prop-1 with the vixen plugin. I like having my controllers off my computer.

I use the Parallax board, it has 16 channels but can be connected to a second one to give you 32 channels. Also it uses a USB port instead of a serial port.
