The invitations for our 2010 party are Canopic Jars. They will hold the details and paper invite for our party. We planned to do an Egyptian theme for our Halloween party and haunt last year while making Aliens. The monster mud strips made us think of mummies.
The jars are made from sport drink bottles. I cut them just under the spout/top. Then rimmed/lined the lids inside with card stock, so they would stay in place on the bottle later. I've never used paper clay before, it was great to work with. Stolloween is a GOD in my book! I have followed his work for ages, he is amazing; and his tips, advice, and blogs encouraged me to use paper clay for the heads of my Canopic Jars.
I will need 20 small bottles total for the invites, and just the 2 larger jars for props in the haunt. I will not paint them in detail. I want them to look more like they were excavated from an archeological dig.

If you will be in Hawaii on Halloween, then your invited! I'll save you one and give it to you in person. All of the Canopic Jar invites will be hand delivered to the top 20 return guest/couples. We typically have a repeat of party goes, so they get the goodies. Otherwise... we make a second invitation to give to folks and neighbors who say they want to come but never do...year after year, year after year.

Thanks!
I will update the post as I go. But be patient with me. I am a slow prop builder and my real job/work offen gets in the way of that too, ALOT! Plus my computer skills are worse than my prop skills. Everything is a learning process now days.Early warning signs of head trauma.

I was talking about your invitations, and was saying if those canopic jars were made of clay, and the guests would have to bust them open to get to the invitation, that would be cool. I also visited your albums, great pictures and very, very good lighting!
I love the screaming!
