Hello Haunters,
I have a question to post regarding the connection of the SSC-32 to my computer. I have virtually no detailed computer experience, so the answer to my question may be a simple yes or no. I see the USB to Serial port adapters are "finicky" (as someone in here put it), and Lynx is suggesting I use an adapter that is so short I would need to also purchase a serial to serial (m-f) extension. Thing is, I'm poor. I want to only buy what I need. So, that said.... my computer has both USB AND serial port plug-ins. Is there anything inadvisable about getting just a serial port to serial port (m-f) extension cord? In my head it would work just fine. Of course there are also things in my head that,... well never mind,.... I'll save that for a different thread.
Any help here would be appreciated.

If you have a 9 pin serial port on your computer that's not being used for something else, there's no reason to use a USB to serial adapter. Just get the serial cable you need & you're good to go.

I bought a 25 ft cable at Frys. As I recall it was about 15 bucks.
