If I wanted to put something in the yard I have a large distance to go and that requires lots of extension cords when I really would like to have some props run off 12-24VDC and would like to have them triggered wither by remote or by PIR. any ideas?
Thanks for the help to a noob

Radioshack has wireless remote outlets that work great. Just plug the prop into the control box, plug the box into an outlet, and let 'er rip. I used them for a couple of props in my yard, and they worked great. The only drawback is they have a limited range, so I gave the remotes to actors out wandering around on the sidewalk. I have seen these other places, but I know Radioshack has them. Welcome to the forum!

Here's one I was looking at for $13.99:
    Logisys 12V Remote Control (RM01) - FrozenCPU.com

I ended up buying one off of ebay..selling for around $15. Here's one (10v-18v):
    12V WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL 0V OUTPUT SWITCH RP100 - eBay (item 400087982332 end time Dec-26-09 06:34:52 PST)
