Ok Many people have used pink ,blue and white styrofoam all have their good and bad characteristics just wanted to show what can be done with the white stuff more of this to come As i'm making a Gothic styled dragon lamp post heres the sculpt so far and how it was done, the block of styrofoam under it is how it first looked just a block of foam

That's coming along very nicely. I would also be interested in seeing pics of the painting process. Where did you get the block of white styrofoam?

I have several blocks of styrofoam most of them are 4 foot by 4 foot and 8 to 12 inches thick , I recovered them from a Industrial dump site, I believe they are used to form walls or that king of thing There was litereally a semi truck load of this foam going to be burried I grabbed a one tonne and grabbed about 30 Pieces of this foam probably worth about $200 bucks Each all for free yes Free,

Ok, I need to know what you are sculpting with. The only foam available here is the white type like you used but that stuff is so hard to work with! Lots of little balls!

Thanks for showing us this...I really couldn't figure out how you were making such awesome carvings out of the white foam. I happen to have found a huge bundle a couple of years ago that fell off a truck that's just been sitting out on my deck all this time. My friend has been using it alot for his cemetery columns but now he is out of luck
My pieces are 8"X12"X 8 feet long...have you ever glued any pieces together before carving and had to work around a seam?
