Wolfbeard I love everyone one of them! I feel the need to comment on them all as you did such a great job. I'm glad you had pics to share.
Love the kiddie car clown; like the juxaposition of the innocence of childhood with the evil clown. The green hair and gloves were a nice color choice and not one I would have thought of but they work really well on him. Was the kiddie car motorized?
Thanks. The car was not motorized. I picked it up for $2 at a yard sale. The clown's body is pvc pipe and chicken wire. The costume and mask are a kid's costume from K-Mart $12. I placed the mask on a wig head and drew in the eyes. Total cost was under $20.
The Count is one of my favorite looking Gemmy props. He's just so creepy to me. It's nice to see him used outside of the vampire theme too.
We love the Count too. He usually makes an appearance each year in one form or another.
The twins are really cool looking and I love your humor in that scene. What did you use to make your cage bars? They turned out nice. Great faces on them, but I especially like their torso's with the little muscular arms. Suspenders a great touch too. Were they a home-made prop?
The Twins are from Spirit Halloween. I picked them up on clearance the day after Halloween in 2007. They are nicely made props. The cage is made of PVC pipe and 1x2's. I repurposed a shark cage I made for our summer time outdoor JAWS movie partyy Here it is in shark cage form:
The tightrope walker is something I would really love to incorporate in my circus haunt. Love your creative umbrella. How did you get the tightrope walker to stay upright on the conduit rope? Is he solely supported by the vertical wire and balancing on the conduit or did you need to attach him to it somehow? How difficult was it to get him set up?
The tightrope walker was a last minute entry in our neighborhood scarecrow contest. It was a $10 walmart groundbreaker skeleton, with a PVC pipe torso and Goodwill gymnastics outfit. I screwed conduit clamps into the feet and ran some light wire up to the support wire above. It survived 40 mph plus winds, rain and exposure for three weeks. The umbrella is a piece of PVC with coat hanger ribs and creepy cloth glued on. The total construction time on that was four hours.
Yep, the mime
would be a terrible thing to waste! Perfect outfit on him and nice face makeup. You said he was a FCG; any chance you have video of him moving?
No video, sorry. The body is PVC and chicken wire, clothes from Goodwill, and a manikin head I found previously. The body followed the typical FCG movement, but I attached the knees to the wrists with fishing line, so the legs would also go up and down. It was creepy in motion.
I build temporary props and scenes every year, since we always change themes without repeating them. 12 years so far with a different theme. I just re-use the basics where I can. Only a handful of props get saved.
