    Just kidding.

Likely will need to use some kind of cable to draw the guts back inside the torso and draw the torso back together. Kinda gross idea but I applaud your effort.

two parts that overlap, when the two get pulled apart the top cover is pulled up/down to show the back part with the guts which would be also pulled the other way so to show the table behide it for effect. So the top cover could be a rib cage or shirt, the back would part would be all the nasty stuff. If on drawer slider or such everything would return back to the correct place when done

You could use a metal or plastic slinky with thick surgical tubing around it perhaps. Problem would be how to cover the tubing to make it look like guts.

Perhaps the bungee cord idea is better though. A bunch of bungee cords entertwined and stretched would liely pop out at different angles in loops when pushed together. You could use levers. Pivot in the middle. Bungee cords attached the top, torso backbone that is split attached at the bottom. When the torso is held together against the pull of the bungee cords the bungee's will be flat and stretched. When you release or pull the body apart, the bungee's will relax and bulge up out of the opening. Of course to pull a bunch of bungee cords is going to require a strong motor or cylinder.

Yup, hide bungee cords inside with the guts. Paint them red or make them like veins or tendons. I use them to pull my huge pnuematic spider back into place because, he is just damn heavy. They work great.

I have thought about this prop in the past when I was looking at doing a torture chamber. I thought about using electro magnets to hold the torso together, a motor to pull the torso together and another motor to pull the guts into the body cavity. This will also need to have a controller to do all this.

well I started to work on the torso, cut the bucket in half, added wood supports, then started to make the guts ect..I was about 8' from my little heater...can you guess the rest? I know it says flamable, but good god,all most burnt down the garage.destroyed the prop, burnt hand, saved money (no need for a hair cut).
