    Try checking out this website

    cwebdirect.com

They offer replacement motors for this type of motorized Xmas decoration [buck, doe, angel, etc.]. They have replacement parts for other decorations, too, but I haven't figured out what i qould do with any of that stuff yet. I've never ordered from them but the prices look right. Looks like $8 for a motor or $10 for a motor with cam arm. Didn't check shipping--it might still be less expensive than cannibalizing a locally obtained Home Depot deer-- but it gives us a place to find just the motors.

If anybody buys from them, post to the forum to let the rest of us know how easy they are to work with.

BOZZ-- It was the ghost that was flying on our garage window... not sure if you got to see it. Very easy to make. Use the search button and go for it! It is a "must have" or so they tell us newbies here on HF

    BOO!

Man - why is payday still a week away. . .? My Halloween cookie jar fund is zilch!

Thanks for the tip on cwebdirect! Until I found the deer, everywhere I looked for motors they ran a little higher than I wanted to pay. Haven't checked on shipping yet either. Again, thanks for the tip!

Checked out the cwebdirect for the motors. Prices are good, but shipping (at least to San Antonio, Texas) was $7.61 for a total of $15.61. While the deer are on sale at Home Depot it's cheaper just to buy them there. After the sale, they go back to $19.99 so it would be cheaper to buy them from cwebdirect. Hope this helps eveyone out there!

Anubis, it sounds like shipping is a deal breaker for a single motor, but it might be more viable for more than one. i'm tryingto convince the wife that i didn't spend that much in the day after sales and maybe I could get a couple motors so she won't have to watch me dismember a holiday bambi as my mew and improved New Year's Day ritual. i'll report back if I'm successful
