Here's my version of a crate beast / monster-in-a-box prop for 2009. It uses EFX-TEK products for control and sound (Prop-1, AP-8, and RC-4) and is triggered by a PIR motion sensor.

I liked the version with the full on lightening on youtube, really awesome job.
Cool different version of MIB, like the creature breaking out !

Looks great, good job! The head popping out gives your MIB a whole different scare factor.

Thanks for all the nice comments! I'll probably retire this prop now, or at least give it a rest for a few years until a new crop of kids moves into the neighborhood.
