the wiring is really easy... (IF YOU GET AN OLD DESKTOP COMPUTER TO TRASH) you'll remove the power supply, (maybe 4 plugs and 4 screws) you will need to cut 3 to 4 wires and use 2 crimp connectors. The harder part is not making the motor go round, but what it does once it goes round.
I would suggest if this is your first time doing something like this, monsterguts motor is a good idea as they will tell you what wires connect to what posts (remember that these motors were made to power windshild wipers so there is a little playing around to get it to work) They will also sell you the power supply if you cant find a free one someone wants to get rid of.
Just to be clear, if you go the computer route, when removing the power supply from the trasher computer, you will UNPLUG the computer before openning the case to remove the supply. and once you find the supply and removed it (it's the large gray metal box) you will NOT open it but use the wires that come out of it.
again the problem is not making the motor go round it's figuring out what going round will do to make your prop work. your second problem will be what NOT to make it do, cuz once you have success on the first one, then 100's of ideas start popping up.
my list of windshield motor props
1) a guy that rocks violently all night long hanging from a tree (off balance motor weight)
2) a CUTE prop head that slowly looks over a headstone then drops behind it quick (cam)
3) a box that slightly opens the lid and the slams shut (cam)
4) a set of legs that kick all night long (youtube video)
5) a head that comes up out of a trashcan and then drops back down quickly (youtube video)
6) a failed attempt at an axeworthy ghost (motor worked, setup in yard didnt)
7) a hand that pushes up a tombstone cross from inside (wish i still had that one - or a photo/video)
8) and I had started a set of books for a bookshelf that moved around until i decided to make something else instead..... (worked just never finished it)
Figure out what you want to do, how youre going to do it and THEN go shopping or like a lot of us here, you'll end up with a ton of stuff and no prop to show for it. I bet we could make the longest thread ever, if we all just posted a list of things we bought for a unknown prop and never started.
feel free to ask questions, most of us all love to help out. (it gives us that strange satisfaction that we helped build one more prop without spending a cent)
