Hey all,
I uploaded a new tutorial in the How-To section of my website. I wrote a step-by-step guide of how to (or how I) make your digital pictures look antique using Photoshop. It's quite simple, and once you learn how to do it, you can re-apply the effects to many of your pictures quickly. If any step needs more explaining, please let me know and I will expand upon that step!
I know a lot of you may want to apply these effects and aren't Photoshop-savy. So I wrote up how I personally do this. I hope you all find it useful. If you DO use it, make sure you post your pictures here so we can see them antique-ified.
Enjoy!

Anyone try this? If so, what did your picture look like? Mine look great using the method I typed up. I'm hoping someone tried this so I can get feedback. If it turned out horrible, I will delete the How-to :P.

Here are the before and after photos. I've never messed with Photoshop before and have a different version than the one used for the tutorial. Works great and I want to play some more and get them better.

Looks really good.
I've never played with photoshop before, but I'm going to have a go this weekend.
I've got a few pics that should lend themselves rather nicely.
Thanks for posting!

Mhm. I figure some others might find it useful. I really like the "Old Picture" look - especially for the haunt pictures.
Let us know what you do serpensphile!

Zeltino very nice tutorial. I would only add a couple of things like on step 5 the brush hardness, opacity and flow can be played around with depending on the size of the picture. I am a game and video artist and would like to say that this tutorial is a lot better than most that I have seen out there that leave out steps.

Don't have Photoshop at this point (something I hope to correct sooner, rather than later), but iPhoto has a few tools I've been playing with as well, and did a couple of my own.
They have some effects that are nice pre-sets for the levels on the pictures.
A couple I've used are Antiquing, Color Fading, and Vignette - Sepia tone is a choice as well, but I wanted to try keeping a bit of color in the pic, and just fading the heck out of it.
Here's a couple of examples:
Scarecrow:

Witch with floating candles:

Not quite the same effect you've produced, but thought you'd like to see a variation.Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...
2009 photos and 2008 photos ...uhmmm...and what I have evolving...
