    Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster.... First off, I just wanted to thank everyone on here in their own ways for their inspiration and creativity. I've had a lot of fun seeing everyone's hard work and in many cases absolutely blown away by some of the effects achieved by all the home haunters.

Two major life events happened recently, I became a first time home owner and I recently graduated with my bachelor's degree from nursing school and had to stress out about taking my boards to become an official RN up until about a week before the big day. Still, now that I was finally in a house I owned, I wanted to do something for my favorite holiday. Although I couldn't do half the things I would love to do (FCG, pepper's ghost effect, pneumatic props etc...) we still had a blast and lurking around on the forum was a very welcome break from the constant studying I had to do. (by the way I passed!)

Anyway, thanks again and here's some pics of this year's effort. (edit - will post pics in a second message since I can't do it in my first ever message) I have a plain pic of the house to show you the "before" which was at 11:30 this morning and then what we achieved 5-6 hours later. We put a mini graveyard in front along with the pumpkins. We enclosed our porch with a pvc pipe frame and trash bag walls, put a 1000 watt fogger in, along with a green light and a pop up skelly from spirit. At the porch proper, we had a big spider that I could pull a lever and drop down for a scare and then I had a muppet what not from FAO shwarz that we dressed up a bit as a vampire and had him pop up from a casket. I sat behind with a microphone connected to a karaoke machine and told bad halloween jokes and a draw from the table popped out to give the candy. We got a lot of laughs and praise from the TOT's and it was a lot of fun.

I know from what I learned the last couple months on the boards, next year will be even better. Thanks again.

Thanks! and yes, next year will be grand. For starters, I definitely want to build my own tombstones rather than rely on store-bought.

Welcome to the party.. Excitement at the expense of your neighbors kids can be quite the rush! May your haunts grow bigger and be wispered in school cafeteria circles for countless ages to come!

Thanks again everyone. I'm already brainstorming my theme for next year. The use of puppetry in the display proved to be popular and I'm thinking about incorporating puppets in a much larger way next year. I also have an idea surrounding an old civil war fort and it's ghostly inhabitants. I used to civil war reenact and once spent a night in the ruins of a fort near here and it freaked me out big time.
