    Hey all, Happy Halloween!

Just put the finishing touches on my coffin grabber prop, which was the biggest thorn in my side this year, and wanted to share it with you.

YouTube - Coffin Grabber Halloween animatronic

There he is. I initially wanted to use my Monster Guts wiper motor to raise and lower the lid of my toe pincher, but felt that the weight of the lid might burn out the motor, like it did last year (different motor, not sold by Monster Guts). So I changed up my plans mid build and came up with what you see in the video.

    Enjoy

    Looks awsome!
2011 will be our 8th year and After having several outrageous Halloween Parties, we know that we will never get an invite to anyone else's party. So we keep throwing our own!

wouldn't worry too much about the motor burning out...I have been using the same one to open and shut my toe-pincher lid for about 10 years now. My toe-pincher is made of 1/2" ply, but I also have a MIB that uses a wiper motor. the second one is made of fence pickets and I have had no problems with it either. With few exceptions those motors are pretty bulletproof as long as you hook the power up right and they have the proper amount of current available to them, so I wouldnt worry too much about overworking them.

That said, I really like your prop, and dig the "haunted mansion" soundtrack that you have going.
