I am looking to upgrade a prop from a simple sensor setup (sensor/screw in adapters, etc...) to a PIR connected to a timer. Problem is, I used my last PIR on another prop. Attempts to hack el cheapo sensors haven't worked...

(the need stems from the el cheapo sensor staying "on" way too long...

I looked around for a PIR sensor like the one in the link below, but can't find one. Any retailers you can think of that might carry it?

FrightProps - Halloween Decorations, Halloween Props, Pneumatic Props, Animated Props, Halloween Accessories

    TIA...

I've use these before and they work good.

    PIR Sensor Module - RadioShack.com

I have 3 of those frightprops PIR sensors. Turns out I also have 2 other ones that are exactly the same on my home alarm system. If you are in a pinch you could pick one up from one in your area.

Yeah, was hoping to find an "alarm supply company," but so far all I have found are companies selling their services. Pretty much only found stuff online, but it's obviously too late for that. ;-)

Saw that sensor at radio shack, may have to resort to that.

It is not cheaper than Radio Shack but Lowes has something like this: GE at Lowe's: Choice-Alert Wireless Alarm System-Motion Sensor

I also thought that I saw some motion sensor light wall plates in the electrical section the other day. Can't remember the price there.

This won't help you now but if you want some more sensors after halloween I have been using these and I am pleased with their performance, They look almost exactly like the radioshack ones at half the price the input voltage range is wider. the only thing to keep in mind is they come directly from Thailand so it takes 10 days. I've order two batchs from them and not had any problems. Also the output is TTL so it will not trigger a regular relay with out an additional circut. This year I made some using the PIR sensor and a simple circuit board PIC event timer...so I three times, delay after trip, time on and delay to reset.
pir sensor PIR Sensors scroll down a couple of items to PIR sensor module
Heres's the page for simple circuits TTL relay 10A TTL Relay Boards email Jeff and ask for the PIC product information

I buy mine from them as well as well as my LEDs and such. Shipping does take a bit (little over a week) but very affordable.

If you have a Fry's Electronics nearby, they sell a ge pir for about $20-30 that works.

They have a very small selection of home alarm triggers near all the surveillance camera equipment. It's in a box just big enough to fit the pir and my Fry's only carried this one model. Sorry the box is already gone in the trash, but I think it was a GE brand. I'd just ask someone who's been working there awhile in the component section where they are.

I was at Fry's yesterday and the staff really wasn't helpful. I may go back this afternoon and look again... it's only a mile away.
