I am very behind on my haunt and am looking for easy last minute scares/effects.
My scenes and their scares are:
Bedroom
-Distract with body form in bed
-Scare with actor from behind
Livingroom
-Drop down portrait
Lab
-SFX show w/ fog machine, strobe light, & actor.
Graveyard
-Animatronic hanging man
Do you have any ideas that I could pull off w/ stuff around the house?
For the lab, I have a fish tank and pump. What can I do w/ it?
Do you have any links w/ instructions on how to make lab jars and weird gross stuff?
Thanks! Dirty there are so many things in one post.

Last year I did a serial killer theme. I used a lot of items from around the house and it sounds as though you could use some of my ideas. However I warn you some of the things I did were controversial.
Body Disposal Bags: Buy black trash bags stuff them with newspaper, tie the bag closed, rip a hole in the bag, and place bones or body parts sticking out.
Splater old clothes with blood. Rip and burn the clothes. Use a variety of clothes so some clothes look like they are from your victims and other clothes look like they belong to the killer.
Create a kill kit and place all the items somewhere together. In my kill kit I had bloody rope, gloves, blindfold, gag, duct tape, various knives and tools from the kitchen, and tools from the garage including a hammer, and a handsaw.
Place a muddy shovel and a map near a door.
Create a Trophy Wall. When serial killers kill they often keep something personal from their victim. Hang a variety of jewlery, ids, underwear, etc. on a wall.
I also placed fake finger nails in glass jars (several packages in different colors and sizes), hair clippings for different wigs, I also placed fake teeth in jars.
Create jars full of body parts which were just items that looked like body parts from the produce stand in water with red food coloring.
Create a photo wall. On the photo wall I placed pictures of my friends, survelliance pictures of women I found online, missing person flyers I created and found online, and pictures of crime scenes that I found online (mostly from tv shows and movies). Before I placed the photos up sprayed the photos with blood, and on several photos I placed bloody hand prints.
Create Crazy Notes: I wrote post it notes with reminders all around the house: Buy Black trash bags, Find Dump Site, Dispose of bodies, and Find Next Victim. I created crazy to do lists: Kill Neighbor, Buy Lettuce, Kill Boss, Do Laundry, Kill Hamster, Call Mom. I wrote random words (dismember, voices, murder, etc. ) and created random drawings on paper, crumpled them and put them around the house.
Create a bloody Dummy using more clothes and newspaper.
Cover all of your windows with Aluminum foil or black paper.
Create bloody sheets, and towels. Place them in a laundry basket.
More Ideas to come... I am getting a hand cramp.Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

What size tank and what kind of pump? Air pump or filtration?

@propmistress Wow! That sounds like a cool and very well developed haunt. It is amazing what you can do on the cheap. I like the body bag idea.
@Yubney The tank is 15-20 gallons and the pump is filtration.
Thanks all!!! Any other ideas?

get a couple of red glowsticks, fake severed arm/leg etc, place in barbecue and close lid (ensure the body part is hanging out a bit). The red light looks like it's on and you're cooking your "victim".

If the flitration pump is the type of biowheel ones then I would leave the water level low enough for it to splash down. I would leave all filtering medium out. If the type with the power head maybe you can get a similar effect with water level low. Use a bunch of cheap rubber/plastic body parts or what ever and throw them in. Color the water with food coloring and/or maybe light it through the class bottom with a color light or strobe. Even better add a fabric softener to the water and have it placed near a blacklight. I hadn't tried the softener but read it glows near the blacklight. Crumple some foil and scotch tape it to the back. Maybe put some old lose wiring connecting the propls inside and weighted so they don't bob on the surface but look wired for an electrical experiment.
I have an old 55 gallon on a stand I plan to use next year in a similar way for a Frankestein's monster adult sized "embryo" to be inside mine. Still planning out the how to's of the build.

I used a bubbler pump to do a bubbling bucket of blood with severed body parts in it years ago. Use some double sided tape to attach a body part over the hose that goes into the tank so nobody can see it. We have also picked up a creepy gourd and carved out a hole in the middle. Then we put an "alien" chest popper coming out of it. We splattered some glow in the dark paint all over inside and then put a blacklite over the top. Looked pretty gruesome in our picture window with the curtains closed all the way up to the sides of it. It would look great in a lab setting.
If you have a crib you could put in the bedroom, then have a recording of a crying baby come from the crib. It will freak people out that there might be a kid in there. It will complete throw them off from the corpse in the bed.
