I want to add lightning to my graveyard but wanted to see how everyone did it. I have a set of outdoor 8" speakers and amp I can use. I don't have much money left to spend this year, $20 would be my max. Any ideas?

I run some extension cords out to a few flood lights staked into the ground and hidding behind tombstones. I use a couple of green and some red. Assuming you have some extension cords and some ground stakes $20 should buy a few bulbs. Maximize what you can get by looking in your local dollar store(s) first though.

I am assuming you used a color organ? I know it's late in the game, I can make from Radio Shack parts if needed. Guess it's time to google the schematics for a color organ.

I built this one and used it for few years...
    http://www.hauntedillinois.com/light...hp...schematic hope this helps!!!

I now use the Brookshire VSA program with the Enntec DMX controller and a 750 watt dmx stobe light...this setup rocks!!!

Your best bet would be able to obtain on of those $12 devices...but I'm not sure if it would arrive in time.

I use the inexpensive lightning machine that flashes lights to sound, plug in a 500w halogen work light with a blue filter and mount it in the trees to give of shadows (real lightning comes from above not off the ground) and run the iPod through my 112 watt guitar amp and run a lightning sound track. The lightning machine picks up the sound and flashes the lights.....works great. The 500w work lights are $10 at Walmart and the lightning machine which is the Christmas version, was $13 plus shipping and handling, but, I looked at the web site yesterday and they arent selling the machine anymore so I assume they ran out so you'll have to work that out somehow

For lighting I use one of these: Halloween Lightning FX Box, Christmas Lights Also - eBay (item 280414256495 end time Oct-26-09 17:16:50 PDT)

I use a guitar amp and a cd player with a lightning track. The machine uses the sound to determine how to flash the lights. I use 2 white floodlights and it looks good.

Yep I spent money on this part of my haunt as well. I purchased an I-Zombie MC-2401 that can handle up to 2400 watts of light. The reason I picked this one was it has 4 outlets on it that allow me to run electrical to many different places. It not only runs my lightning lights, which by the way I use photo flood bulbs for very whiteish/blue light and they fire almost instantly, but I run my Haunted Mansion changing portraits from it as well. I was able to save some money on mine as it was part of a group buy but was still expensive in the scheme of things.

Works good, and we use Tungsten Photo Flood Bulbs, VERY bright flash.
