So after reading all the threads on the candles I did my own version. I picked up a string of halloween lights from Party city that had 10 flicker lights in them. This was my source for the plugs and lights. I also picked up some AC, two prong, plugs (male and female) as well as 18 gauge lamp wire from Lowes. No for the candles. Here is where i did it a bit different. I got a length of 2in pipe and cut that into 6, 8 & 10 inch sections. I also got some 1 1/4 in pvc caps. They fit right inside of the 2 inch pipe. I cut the caps in half. So they did not stick out the top. The peace that was left over, the ring, I glued inside the pipe about 1 inch down. I drilled a hole in the center of the cap for the light socket and drop it in curved side down. Then we did everything like everyone else. Hot glue, spray paint and craft paint for aging.
The reason I did this was so if I ever needed to I could disassemble them and make repairs with out damaging the candles. I made 5 sets of 3 and they look great. I know, worthless without pictures. I didnt take any during the build.
Just thought I would share another way of building them using all off the shelf parts.

Yeah yeah sure sure PIIICS! Heh heh. At least impress us with the results, I understand how your pipe cap inside 2" pipe method works, I'll see if I have the parts lying around. But the string of lights, how much did they cost you? Cuz I'll go snag some tonight, I have a few more building days left!

The string only had 10 lights and it was, I believe, $10. I needed more since I made 15. So I just got a xmas light string that was inexpensive and hacked that for the other 5. I also found the smaller flicker lights, like the ones in the string at Hobby Lobby for $1 each. I will get a picture or two tonight.

I would love to see some pictures. I am in the beginning stages of building my candles, and using the exact same flicker lights you used. Could you possibly disassemple one of them and take some pics. That way I can visualize what exactly you did. Would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ryan

Here is the only picture I have. You can see two of the 5 sets we made. Image is large so I will just post a link.

They look great! My only concern would be rain. the design seems to be a large funnel with a AC outlet at the bottom. being that your Cox.net account is AZ Daisy (and your hardscape), can I assume Arizonia which might mean that this is a no issue?
I had a tea light in the same area as a flicker light. flicker to me was much better, just wish they didnt come with cords for 110 power.

Yes we are in the Phoenix area and ummmmm. I cant remember the last time I saw rain. O wait was it like ummmm months ago. LOL
There is enough room around the socket for drainage but I must admit I did not test for that. The sockets are not glued in the are just pressure fit. I made the hole only large enough so they would fit with some pressure to hold them in place.
