Any one have any thoughts on this? It started to snow here last night and now I am curious as to whats the coldest you ran a fog chiller and had good results?

Have not built my chiller yet but if its not going to work I might just hold off till next year

Last year we didn't bother with a cooler. We just ran it through dryer vent tubing, directly under the porch. Its certainly an option if the weather turns worst case on Halloween night.

You could also build an indoor friendly fog chiller {one that doesnt leak all over your floor} and pay no never mind to outside ambient temps... Low lying fog creeping out the door is a desirable effect.

Here is this years fog chiller..... The video is a internal workings tutorial of sorts.. There are plenty of videos on my yootube page showing it in action. Worst case scenario, if its cold Halloween night... we will have a smoking coffin.

What could possibly go wrong? Even if you dont fire up the smoke machine... there is a coffin in your yard. If its too cold for awesome ground fog, you still have a smoking coffin. For a smaller machine, in a unit that works for BIG machines... your fog might get that much colder.

My understanding is at freezing point it is kind of pointless. The thought is that heat rises, and the state of fog can not be lower than freezing point.

calling for a high of 48 and a low of 39.

might just build the cooler and a back up plan.

was going to run the cooler into a witches cauldron but i might split the fog and run it down the driveway.

we are going to run straw bales down each side of the driveway with thick row of corn stalks standing up behind the bales, to make a narrow alleyway.

I was thinking of running the fog behind the corn stalks so it raised up and thru the corn stalks with flood lights illuminating the effect from the back

I understand that, but I was asking at what temp are you guys still having success with the chillers. 40,50,60,70,80 degrees?

So the fog rolls into the alley? Sounds great but also consider winds.

no, the fog will be outside the alley rising up behind the corn stalks. I will set it up so if it is windy i can just cap of one side and let the wind force the fog thru the row of cornstalks on the other side.

I am going for the look of walking down a country road with corn fields on each side, and having a mist rising from within the corn
