I set up my 700 watt fogger last night using 3-inch perforated drainage pipe and frozen water bottles. The fog seems to get "stuck" with the bottles in there. The water bottles are regular size. It is hard to space them out inside the pipe - they all seem to want to hang out close to each other, causing a bottle-neck (no pun intended).

Do I need to drill bigger holes in the pipe?

Am I supposed to block off the exit end of the pipe?

    What am I doing wrong?

You know the drainage piping works really well I'm surprised and it is cheap. I use a simple chest that is filled with ice which has an exit and enter pipe. The exit enters the drainage pipe but there is no ice in the pipe itself. So the fog goes through the ice chest then out to the drainage pipe. I think of it as a flash freeze because the fog moves fast but I think it makes it a little bit lower then without ice. I use 2 4 inch sections with the original slits in it. Cap off the end with tape. This method works better then my fog chiller. I have a 1750 watt fog machine and it is just to fast for the chiller. The 750 works great for the chiller but it doesn't "fill" the yard. The smaller the holes the more dense the fog gets so it's up to you.

Thanks. So I can should leave the original holes alone and cap off the exit end, and don't use the frozen water bottles? I have a chiller from many moons ago - the good old rubbermaid container with the inlet and outlet holes cut in it.

I also have a 400 watt fogger and I think what's going to end up happening is I will use both. (That was my main reason for not using the chillers - I would need two.) One for one-half of the front, and the other for the other half. I noticed last night that I just can't get the whole yard with one fogger. I didn't think it was that big, but I just couldn't get it to work.

Hey guys, post some pics.. trying to figure out what you mean caps the end of the pipe off? What sort of drainage pipe are you using? The cheap plastic stuff that has ridges in it.. the black plastic stuff? Or are you using PVC (or ABS) and drilling holes in it? I am curious cause I still need to pick some up for my chiller which I was going to pack with dry ice along the route. Obviously PVC/ABS needs rounded elbows and such to navigate around things, and is far less flexible for sharp turns without 90 degree elbows.

So yah, if you could put up a few pics of what you're doing, that would be great.

Yeah it's the ridged stuff. The one I use has slits for the fog to com out off. Similar to this:

That is perfect. I am borrowing a friends fogger this year since I had to return my v960 sadly. I take it you filled that up with water bottles? Or did you use dry ice? If I can get by with water bottles.. that's even cheaper.

Oh no that's not my setup I just posted it to show what the pipe and effect looks like. There is no ice in the video but if you did add a chiller before the enter part of the pipe it will stay lower then what you see.
