We need some help or suggestions securing our Pumpkin King into the ground. All was well until a rain storm and wind left the ground extremely soggy. There goes our King. He leaned so badly we had to take him down. He's basically made with an understructure of 1.5 in. PVC. We pounded an inch thick 8 foot conduit into the ground about 18 inches and then put the pvc over it. Like I said it was good to go until the ground got soggy. The photo shows what he looked like before. Now the conduit is not in firm ground, more like mud and with the weight of the King on it, leans badly. Any suggestions on how to prevent the leaning or create a more secure base would be appreciated. Thanks.

Easy on this one. Fishing line and tent stakes. You can't see either at night so make sure the kids will not be walking up to it. I used that method to secure all my lines for my webbing and it worked great. We also do it for our xmas palm tree in our back yard during the winter. Prob cost you about $15 max. Go to Dicks sporting goods, rei, or gander mountain and you can get everything in one stop.

aye, use some guy wires. I screwed 3 eye bolts into the pvc on my pumpkin guy and secured him to the ground with black nylon string and stakes. keep the conduit to keep the bottom of the pvc from slipping on the ground.

Why not strap him up against the deck that appears in the background of the pic. That should support him.

Thanks for the suggestions! We secured him with fishing line wrapped around his neck and secured to the ground with tent stakes. He looks much better today. Hopefully he'll withstand any wind/storms that may come our way. Appreciate the advice...
