Hi guys, I'm going as Medusa this year. Someone gave me a great suggestion here, but I'm not sure how to do it. The suggestion was to carry around a head that looked like it was turned to stone, possibly on a staff. I love the idea, just not sure how to pull it off.....any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Have a severed head laying around? Spray with white or grey spray paint and dry bush with shades of grey and/or white. Probably best to use a bald head if possible. If the head has hair, use white craft glue first to stifen the hair and let it dry good. I would then spray that with a sealer before using the base spray of white or grey spray paint.

    Just a thought.

That sounds great! I have an old wig-head that's made of styrofoam. I'm wondering if spray paint will stick to it....I love the hair idea, I wish it had hair

    Thanks for the help!

Lainie, most spray paint will eat styrofoam so I'd use a foam-safe latex for a base coat first, then spray with whatever you like. In fact there are some "stone-look" spraypaints available that would likely look very good on the head!

If you could find one of those mannekin heads they use in beauty school that would be great. Paint it with that granite look spray paint.

I would guess Mr Grimsley would know what he's talking about - after all, from the look of his avatar, he is a stone head!

Thank you everyone! A friend of mine did mention that "stone look" spray paint, but I didn't think to prime it first. Great suggestions everyone, thanks so much!

Monstergamma, I bought one of those foam wig heads, he will have to be decapitated first, but oh well LOL
