I'm sure most have seen this prop or at least ones like it-
I've only had it 2 years, the first year it was on a covered porch (pictured) and the 2nd year it was on the eve of my roof and it was already falling apart so I decided to rebuild it. Took the measurements of the old cloth cage before taking it apart and pitching it. There were metal rings on top, bottom and center that I kept. Next up I bought 18 metal corner beads, $23.00, that I bent in half. Started at the bottom and wrapped the metal ring with some corner bead, overlapping about 2" of material and screwed that together (#6-1/2" sheet metal screws). Next up I marked the location of the bars/straps, screwed all those to the base. Did the same for mid section and top section, on top I had some extra material so I just wrapped it around and screwed that onto itself.
Here's what it looks like-

Still got some fine tuning to do and need to spray it flat black and faux rust it. I was originally going to build this out of thin wood strips but I'm definitely digging the metal, it'll sound good swinging in the wind with some chains clagging on it!!
