Did they put up a tree at Christmas? If so, you should have asked them to take the pagan thing down.
I wonder if they would have had to nerve to go to a neighbor with a menorah on display and ask them to take that Jewish thing down.
Sorry to rant, but religious fundies get on my nerves, especially when they try to come down on Halloween in some mistaken belief that it's the devil's holiday.

I love how religious fanatics impose their beliefs on everyone else, but when it comes to your free speech it is considered offensive. People need to learn to mind their own business.

Big Nick,
I didn't say anything when you first posted your skeletons on the crosses. But, perhaps I can help you understand your neighbor if I explain.
The first picture you showed was something like this:
If you are still showing the three crosses together, that could be what is making people uncomfortable. I am Christian and when I first saw this I winced and thought, at first, you were mocking my religion. But, since I know you, my second thought was you are not doing it on purpose. But, to Christians, the three crosses together most definitely signifies Jesus on the cross with the two thieves.
As you know, I LOVE Halloween. But seeing your crosses displayed the way you have was hurtful to me as a Christian. I love Jesus and this display (I am sure not on purpose) mocks Him.
I hope my perspective is helpful. It is not intended otherwise.

That is very sad that your daughter was not invited to the big party. I had a christian upbringing in that my grandmother was the real deal. She taught us all the rules that many of the religious do not like to bother with these days. We don't all live it, but we very well know when we are not living it.
I do not think a lot of people these days understand when they are living wrong. The right messages do not seem to be coming out in some of their churchs. But it's easier I think to believe that if you put a skeleton in your yard you are bad, so it's simple to them, they think, "I won't put skeletons in my yard". That is nowhere near as hard as dealing with the real faults like not being humble enough, or caring enough that there are starving people out there.
Or even not caring if you break a little girls heart by not inviting her to the big party.

I totally agree with that! We ALWAYS invited those kids over for parties and such, and they were never allowed to come over and play. My daughter didnt really care- she has other friends in the neighborhood, but the kids across the street always looked so sad at us having fun and playing, always looked they wanted to come over and see what it was we were doing.
Doing the right thing is ALWAYS 'religion blind'. Right is right.
Good grief, its not as though were out there resurrecting the dead or anything LOL

Big Nick
Next time ask if she could help out , then bring out a empty cross and tie her to it. Some Neighbors just don't understand its all in fun for the kids .

People take their religions way too seriously. Do what makes you happy, Nick.

I really hate how these threads about how someone finds one of our displays offensive turn into a bash on Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Baptists, Native Americans, green aliens, fill in the blank ____________. There are people of every race, color, and creed who dislike what we do. I happen to love Big Nicks crosses but one of the best haunters on this forum Terra mentions that she finds them hurtful. Her explanation makes great sense. I would not have understood the meaning of the 3 crosses since I am Jewish. If someone comes to me nicely and mentions that something I have on display makes them feel bad I will take it down. Way too many people seem to take great joy in “sticking it” to someone we make uncomfortable. I am not saying take down a whole display because someone else doesn’t like Halloween. Nick’s neighbor just mentioned she that was one part of the display she disliked. That is all. She did not even ask him to take it down. I must say after reading some of these posts I really wonder what is behind some people’s motivation to decorate. I really thought it was about having fun and sharing the spirit of the season, sad to say I don’t get that vibe from a lot of these posts. I really wish a moderator would close this thread before someone’s feelings get hurt.
Sorry for the rant, but it had to be said.
