ok so I was getting ready to build my chiller with a 30 gal trash can and had an idea. is there any reason the fogger cannot be in side a 3 shelved chiller?
my feeling is that it would be a lot quieter. you could also lock it down to prevent theft. is there a reason not to do this? will it hurt the fogger?

Interesting concept. I don't know if the ambient heat would affect the fog machine - they do get hot, of course, but the cases are vented to prevent trapping the internal heat. You'd also need to seal the can pretty good so the cold fog would blast out of the outlet.
I have to wonder where the replacement air would come from, though. Poor flow is why a chiller doesn't work so well when the fogger nozzle is placed right at the inlet pipe opening, without an air gap. Using coiled aluminum dryer duct inside the can, with the fogger nozzle a couple of inches away from the inlet would allow you to leave an opening in the can lid to allow fresh air to flow in. You could also use a "tee" or Y connector (the pseudo-venturi design) on the inlet end of the duct, with one opening poking through the lid, to draw in air.

I don't see how it could hurt the fogger, I've never read anything about having the fogger in an enclosed area that would stop it's functioning. I like the idea but don't have enough experience to know if it'll work or not. I'm looking forward to some of the talent in here answering this.

I would make sure you vent it very, very well. You could over heat your machine. And it may be counter productive to your chilling if you do not insulate the ice or cooling system from the heat. But if you test and tweak I think you might be on to something.
