I just finished (sorta) my first attempt at a ground breaker. I think it came ok but the paint is not that great. I did the spray paint thing and it seemed to have come out kinda green. I love the ones Dept1031 and of course Pumpkinrot makes and I would like mine to be painted like those. Any tips on what I should try would be greatly appreciated. I have 4 more im going to be painting and would like them to come out better.
Thanks everyone, audible
I know the arms look a little strange, im going to be fixing them before Halloween.

Yah im a computer wiz J/K, here are the pics. Its much more dark green in person. I need to know how to get more depth and have the features come out more. Any ideas would be fantastic.
Thanks, audible

I agree with the stain comment. I find I have much better luck with a stain than with trying to actually paint the surface, but I do some detail work, as well, with acrylic.
Experiment with colors of stain to see what you like -- what one person likes may not work for another. I prefer the lighter brown tones (my latest favorite i s "Provintial").
Also, no need to buy big containers... a little goes a long way!

Try putting a darker color in the shadowed areas, and maybe a lighter color to accent your higher, better lit areas. This will artificially enhance your shadows, and give you the look you desire. Just remember, you can't "screw it up". As with any artistic endeavor, it's all what you want it to be.
) I love your corpsing technique - very well done.

I love how you made them, they look really great Audible!
I'm not a big painter, but you could try getting some dark brown or black spray paint and lightly go over spots. Maybe some gray. You could also use a paintbrush to accent the indented areas (eye sockets, ribs, etc) to give it a more 3-D look. Just test whatever, you really can't go wrong - As I notice BallstonManor said. Great job corpsifying it though, it looks awesome!

Hey thanks so much everyone for the help I knew I could count on you. This is by far the best forum on the net. Everyone on here is so fantastic. I will be having a much better haunt this year because of all of you.
I did have a feeling that I needed to try the dry brush thing. The spray paint covers everything and doesnt seem to leave any depth. I was about to go out and rub it in the dirt to make it look more like a corps LOL. I will try that this weekend. Wish me luck, I have 5 projects left to finish and im not sure its going to happen.
Thanks everyone again, audible

I've talked to dept1031 about his technique. He told me he paints the whole thing black with spray paint then dry brushes with craft paint. Sure seems to work for him!
I'm all that's left of a bizarre childhood.......
