Thread: Need help with a script and setup

Okay, I'm in a bit of trouble and need some help. I have a mad scientist's lab scene for my haunt this year. It looks like this (except now the patient is sticking straight out from between the control panel and the Jacob's Ladder)...



My original plan was to have the head by the control panel and Dr. Shivers carry on a conversation. I had the script all done and the prop controller setup and then Dr. Shivers went and died on me. So, I have to rework the scene to come from just the head.

In addition, my original script was pretty lighthearted. My wife thinks that's the wrong way to go and that it should be more ominous. Guests walk in past a motion activated 55 gallon drum based trashcan trauma. In the main scene the patient sits up quickly and screams when I trigger him (at the right moment when someone is close to him). In addition, I'm in a cage opposite what you see waiting to give another scare. My wife thinks that rather than relax people and get them off guard the funny script will just make them laugh when the patient sits up and I'm starting to think she's right.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what the head can say? The sequence is motion activated as people walk in and is setup to turn on the Jacob's Ladder electrodes at some point. Right now I have Dr. Shivers head removed since he doesn't work and was going to play off that.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Can the head be groaning and moaning and asking for help from the guests?

Oh and that is one really great looking labs! One of the best I've seen!

Thank you! I think he actually needs to work through a script. The dialog is supposed to move guests through the scene and make the setup for the scare. Dr. Shivers going DOA really has thrown a wrench into my plans!

Ok then, how about the head giving a warning to the guests? Talking about the mad man who is running the lab(maybe giving some details about his dasterdly deeds/experiments) and if they know what's best for them they better get out quickly and definitely dont go near (where ever it is you WANT them to be near lol)....or something along those lines?

does the head move or is it sensor activated??
you could have it wait until they're a few steps in the room before it triggers and then have it say something like....... "are you sure you want to enter this room................. look what happened to the doctor ?????? .........before it goes into the rest of your schpeel????

You could always go along the lines of an experiment gone wrong, and his head has been separated from his body. Maybe something in the air that he breathed in. And it's close-by them and they best move unless they wish to turn into him. And then the patient can sit up screaming and demanding that the guests let him out so his head doesn't become unattached from his body?

How about even if you cut the heads off all those people we will never be one of your zombies!

Thanks for all the feedback. My first thought when this came up was... "Ain't got no body!". My wife was not amused!

I refused to accept defeat so I took apart my spare Gemmy Crystal Ball (why buy one when you can get two for twice the price) and hacked the heck out of it. It's now on Dr. Shivers shoulders and it looks great and works perfectly. I'm actually going to change my original soundtrack anyway because we want something more sinister now.
