I'm so excited, I just finished the the hard part of programing my light show! :bouncy: :bouncy: This has been so long in the making it's just a relief it's done! I spent about a week and a half deciding on music and then compiling it, and have been working for the last 5 weeks on the plot and programing for the show.
So for a little background:
I actually used to be a DJ about 6 yrs ago, and still have all of my old stuff (sadly pretty much non of it is useful for this show but that's besides the point). I am also fairly involved in theater both here in my town and still back at my old high school (I graduated some time ago, but they still ask me back as I'm the only one that really knows the system, could be because I designed it 11 yrs ago). Anyway, all that means to say is that my show is based around professional theater and entertainment gear so this might give some of you some insight into a little different world.
To program the show I'm using Martin Light Jockey (LJ) and have the 2 universe box. If I need it I have 1028 DMX channels or 512 output and 512 input. I have not figured out yet how to use the input to use to trigger sensors and things but I'm not sure I need to, or want to, at least with LJ.
For the rig, for this year, I have two intelligent moving yoke lights that run on a 250 watt HID lamp, two small moving mirror lights that are 250 watt halogen and 8 dimmer channels. On the 8 dimmer channels I will have a 750 watt strobe, 3 or 4 small spotlights, the 2x 2 foot black light florescent fixture for my crank ghost, and 4 575 watt halogen theater spot lights. In total the set up uses 50 channels.
The movers will be hidden behind grave stones set under two trees, near their trunk. The two moving mirror lights will be in front of that front lighting the grave stones, and also hidden behind two more stones. 2 pin spots will uplight a hanging skeleton, and the large strobe will backlight the skeleton. Two more pin spots will uplight another tree in two different colors. The 4 large theater lights will uplight two pine trees I have, two each, all 4 with different color gels in them. The crank ghost will be hung under the pines and down lit (I think, not sure yet) by the florescent.
It's not much, but these movers amp up the show SO MUCH! Oh and yes I already owned the movers. I'm borrowing the larger theater pars from a friend.
Anyway, the sound track that I've set up starts with the Tubular Bells that has been chopped for length (not the version with the added sound effects, I'm going to use that version next year), Then goes into a some what chopped Phantom of the Oprah, a short thunder storm, The Sleepy Hollow theme song, The Nightmare Before Christmas compilation that's been chopped down, Beetle Juice Theme Song, and finishes up with the Halloween Theme Song. Total length is exactly 14:00. I felt it was a little on the long side, but I didn't want to listen to the same songs over and over too many times in one night!
Well I think that's enough for now. If people are interested in how the programing works I can post some information about that a little later. I may make YouTube videos of the Off Line Visualizer for this show, not sure yet.
Edit,
Here's the part one video form the off line visualizer. There's a lot of detail left out of it though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjnRZLEwao4
