I still haven't tried my flex boxes yet but they have MP3 sound quality which has to sound better than the 105's I've got...I still love the 105's for the simplicity and they don't sound THAT bad for what they are and cost....I've been watching monster makers on the travel channel which features distortions making props for the pros...We're talking BIG animatronics that are many thousands of dollars and you see them in several episodes using the scare master to program them so they are using fright ideas products obviously....If it's good enough for them then it's definitely good enough for me in my little meager haunt...ZR
The scaremaster/Boobox flex is easier to use then the picoboos IMO. It's nice because the terminals/Molex connections can be 12V or 24V and if you need an AC device you just add a relay board or pack to control the 120V.
I have two props this year that each have 8 outputs. Closing the channel out as you go makes things so simple. Takes a little while to learn but when you do you have a slew of options:
Putting a Pre or Post delay on the triggers
Having a set time to run, great for adding another flex somewhere else and have that run at the correct time
Transfering sounds via a SD card
Running ambient with the main programs when they start
Much much more
I use the molex connectors because they are more forgiving then the terminals. If you short out the terminals you will need to replace the
ULN2803 chip which isn't hard. Double/Triple check your wiring on boot up. The molex connectors take a little bit of time to crimp in the beginning but when you get the hang of it you will make them fast. When done you have easy to remove plugs from the board.
Tip:
If you know how to solder you can turn the to the relay boards into relay packs yourself. You can save some money.
