Ahoy 'mates.. made up me mind I did, tha' this be me final year fer piratin' displays, an' th' Black Pearl (well, 'least fer a year or two).. 'ad it in me 'ead ta do a Demented Playground fer next year, so th' Pearl be out fer oll ta see, then be listed on Craig's List/auctioned off ('adn't decided yet) an' wit' th' gold from it, it is my intention to raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weasely black guts out. Bu' til then, wanted ta post some images, or drawings o' images, pictures as it were, o' th' Pearl as it's goin' up fer th' last time..

As yet, me skeleton crew 'as ta be loaded, an' wired ta th' controllers, th' fogger cannons mus' be plumbed an' wired, an' th' jail, wench auction, an' treasure room be set up in wot once was a thing colled a "garage".. bu' me ship be nearly ready fer tha' frightful voyage, a mere 12 days(noights) away, savvy?

Sad to hear that Cap'n. However, I hope to see you back on board in a few. I wish I could afford to take it all (and had the storage)! I'm going just the opposite way. I've done different displays each year for the past few, and it was starting to get to be too much to redo everything and too expensive as well. So, I've decided to start the pirate theme again (did it several years ago) from now on. I figure I'll just slowly add to it each year to improve it, and hopefully get to the point someday that you are this year with your display. It's quite amazing!

Depending on what you decide to go with, I'd be interested in seeing if you want to barter some props or decor, plus interested to buy some of your gear. Best of luck to you!

I thanks ya oll fer yer kind words! Make me 'eart swell it does! 'twas ta be a 5year project, th' Dutchman was ta be battlin' th' Pearl in th' yarrrd this year, bu' things bein' as they arrre ($$), an' there arrre bu' three movies (thus far), a lil break was in order.. An' this demented playground keeps runnin' thru me 'ead..

Th' 'ole thing breaks down to a stack, 'bout 9' long, 4' 'igh, 4' wide, nearly oll went inta me tool shed it did, an' me tools went.. oll over really.. garage, patio.. Most wood was donated (th' planking, an' decking).. 2x6 framin' was purchased, as woz th' pvc mast an' sails.. lotta bolts an' screws.. few nails, an' it be modular, 'tis three large 8' sections (24' length), so it breaks down nicely.. Me skeleton crew ('bout fourteen, 3-axis buckies) 'ave decided ta remain with their Captain.. an' I say I am rather touched by loyalty, tho me 'eart thinks it be th' promise o' me rum wots keepin' them on

I know there be some great haunters out 'ere in AZ.. 'opin' I ken find some tha' can give th' Pearl a good 'ome. Me thanks 'gain!

Capt'n - Your vessel is magnificent, and fierce, and huge-ish, and…sad to say, soon to be gone. Are ye sure ya want'n to be part'n ways with th' ol' lady? I do understand yer feelin's as this be me fourth year with th' same pirate theme and sometimes I think it would be good to mix things up a bit.

If I were a bit closer to ya an' Az was not a land-locked state, I'd 'ave half a mind to sail 'an take over yer ship from ya 'fore ya sell her on e-"Bay".

Arrgh! See Ya Chum! You'll be missed.

Aye, Capt'n. An' how was the last night of the Pearl? We had around 150-200 little one's come by last night. Lot's of new people, an' qute a few from year's past that look forward to the pile-o-ship in my yard. I am a bit torm myself. I've thought of changing things up next year, but so many look forward to the ship. I'll take a few days 'fore decide'n.

    Cheers!

Aye, tis' a sad day that I see such a fine ship and fine crew be sent out to pasture as it were....

The Pirate Lords will be missing ye, that's for certain and for sure.....!!!
Thank ye matey, from the bottom of me scurvy heart......"One Eye'd" Mick

The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

I totally understand the difficulties and feelings associated with your decision. I made a similar one last year when I decided to retire my complete cemetery which included 100+ feet of fencing and 18 tombstones. I had to do it because I was spending more time repairing them each year than it would take to build new ones. I replaced them this year with Hallowindow 1/2/3 and my new flying witch. I kept expecting people to complain it was gone but instead the new items seemed to actually improve upon the experiences of the ToTs.

I did pass the cemetery on to a relatively new home haunter and do plan to rebuild in the next couple of years. I hope things go as well for you as they have for me.
