    Need ideas to "distort" mirrors

I am doing a haunted carnival/Killer Klowns garage haunt this Saturday night. One of my effects is "funhouse" mirrors with the last one being a Pepper's ghost (scary clown).

Since I can't afford those cool flexible Carnival Mirrors, I am using $2.00 full length mirrors I found at WalMart. I want to distort them in different ways.

I've thought of smearing Vaseline on one, dripping blood (paint, or fake blood, whichever works best) on another. I'd like to do a shattered one, but wouldn't want glass shards all over the floor!

Who's got some ideas? I'm not worried about ruining the mirrors. The whole garage is lit in blacklight, so fluorescing ideas would work, too.

I saw something on TV last night where they sprayed adhesive on a mirror then dusted it with powder. Then used glue remover to write sayings in the dust. Decent effect that I bet would look even better if you had a UV powder under the black lights.

You can buy mirror film and apply it to any surface, so I would say to get some of that and then find a surface that you can bend or bow just a bit and then you'll get that fun house mirror effect.

Cool idea - I have some fluorescent eye shadow that is a loose powder that should work great for this. Thanks!

I won't be using all the film I bought for the Pepper's ghost that I could use to do this. Thanks, good idea.

    CAUTION:::
but you could put contact paper on both sides of the mirror or tint on one side contact paper on the other then break the mirror. For the broken mirror.

    BUT

Glass edges even under contact paper if some one brushed against it cutting themselfs.
The breaking of it, dangerous, use safety gear.

This just has bad Idea all over it sorry

how about buying plexi glass then mirror tint

    MUCH SAFER

and you could heat it to bend it or twist it

    again much safer.

Got to love HGTV. I saw the same episode and even recorded it for future reference.

We didn't want to spend so much for actual carnival mirrors either...somehow I hit on using plain old clear wrap, like you use to wrap left overs in to coat the mirrors... it broke up the images very well..add a strobe light and it's almost impossible to tell what " thing " is leering back at you... heh heh
