I have a lightning FX box, and set it up with 2 flood lights on the roof last night. Everything worked, but I think the lights need to be higher up to get a good lightning effect. I lost alot of the light on the roof, and didnt get enough on my setup. My question is: Do I make some stands to raise them up higher on the roof, or should I place them on the ground? And if placed on the ground, any ideas how to set them up?

    Thanks in advance!!

I place mine so the lights shine up into trees and are hidden. All that is seen is the flash. Or place them so the lights reflect off something high, ie. walls, or gutters. The problem with placing them high would be the cords to power the lights.

Here's a video that gives an idea - YouTube - Michael Myers halloween style
Always scarying the YELL out of them.

Hi guys. This might be a really dumb question. However, I bough one of the sister machines (Christmas version) because I could not find the Lightning one. What kind of light can actually be connected to this? I am doing a last minute addition.

It says no more then 500 watts. It also says do not connect any halogen lights to it. So those that have used it, what kind of light should I buy and I am assuming it can't be over 500 watts. I was going to pick up one of those halogen drop lights from home depot but I guess I won't now. The one I had seen was a 1000 watt halogen which appears to be something I don't want to do.
