We have a few more things to put together for our front yard haunt... figuring out the pallet fencing is one; one more of our ghouls has to be put together; the larger grave area set up; lighting put out there (think we're just going with colored floods); and I'm sure a few strands of lights here and there too. We'll see how it all comes together.
I have to say that our main inspiration for the haunt is Pumpkinrot. Their props, style, artistry, photography -- all of it -- inspired us all! Seriously. Amazing stuff. Our scarecrow Jack and our Sentinels came out of my imagination after scouring over their website for hours upon hours. If you're here reading, THANK YOU for inspiring me.
Secondly Stalloween helped inspire a new interest in paper mache for me this year, and I had a blast doing the four character heads that we did. One, "Jack" our scarecrow; our Witch (who is still unamed - but has been lovingly called "Mother Superior" by my Mom!); and two ghoul children - one, a girl, named Minerva - and the other a ghoul-vampire-like boy, who isn't completely finished yet. If you read this, THANK YOU for all the inspiration you gave me. Your
talent for paper mache is "IT" as far as I'm concerned in that medium.
QUESTION: The Witch will be placed in a scene with a large real cast iron pot in front of her, on a wooden box that we've wired with lights (which will have real wood logs stacked in front of it) to simulate fire. There'll be a green & red flood light splashed over her scene, and light coming from her cauldron too. Now, I'm dressing as a Witch as well - with the intention that as people come through the haunted yard, she will be static, and I can pose - and as people approach I can come to "life" and interact with them. Since she's green, don't you think I should be too? (will post pics of proposed nose for my costume in a next post)
On to the pics!
SENTINELS:
This one will have flickering eyes installed the two days of the haunted yard:
JACK, the scarecrow:
MINERVA, ghoul child - she'll be sitting inside the fence of our children's graveyard scene:
"MOTHER SUPERIOR" Witch, head and then full body [What should I name her? I've got to reattach her fingernails. They fell off the first time around. Will try a different adhesive. She's also very tall -- at least six feet! I wanted her to be the focus of the scene.]:
Thanks for looking! Be gentle... I'm a new yard haunter compared to most here.![]()

Thanks everyone.
So, what do you think about me being a "green faced" witch like my prop? Don't you think it would add continuity to the display?

Yep! But I wanted to look similar to my prop - so that I might could be mistaken for a static prop standing there too.
