I have a couple of adhesive questions & I need your advice. First, I'm attempting to hang tons of foam bats from the vinyl ceiling under my front porch. The bats are attached to fishing line & I need something strong that will hold the fishing line to the vinyl ceiling. I used lots of scotch tape last night & it looked like that was going to work, but this morning I noticed that many of the bats had fallen. Does anyone have a suggestion as to another type of clear tape that I can use that will work better & give me a stronger hold?
I also have a prop called Gravely the Ghastly Butler. He is made of polyfoam & his arm that holds his serving tray has become very loose & is falling out of the socket. I need to find some type of very strong adhesive that will hold polyfoam together. I want to be able to put some light weight items on his serving tray after I fix him, so whatever I use needs to be pretty strong. Any suggestions?

Hey Buzzard,
I've been recommended this site a couple of times when trying to figure out what glue would work best with what materials. I hope you can use this

Can you slip in a re-bent paper clip into the seams or vent holes and hook line to that for the bats?

I would try clear packing tape.

Unfortunately , there are no holes or seams to utilize. It's a seamless surface.

What about clear suction cups? I've seen multi-packs at Dollar Tree in the gadget aisle. If the bats aren't too heavy, that might do the job. I've also used larger suction cups with a sort of clamp that you flip closed over the loop or string you want to hang, and some of those will support fairly heavy items. Good luck!

Gorilla glue for the butler. It's pretty darn good.
For the bats on the porch... if it was me, I'd get wood dowels or the like that could be wedged into place without nails or tape - this would work if you have any sort of porch eaves or walls that hang down further than the porch ceiling surface. Paint the dowels to blend in with the ceiling, wedge them up there, then tie off the bats. You could drill a small hole into the wall near the ceiling to attach a tiny little wedge of wood on each side where the dowels are to act as a brace so the dowels won't come down accidentally, and if they are painted the same as the wall, wouldn't even need to be taken down afterwards. (hope that makes sense - I can see it clearly in my head
)
You could string line between them to get a nice arrangement of bats and the whole thing should come down for storage without messy tape and glue.

How about a small drop of hot glue? It would probable be strong enough to hold the bats up and it shouldn't be too hard to remove the glue from a non porous surface. But I liked the suction cup suggestion too.
