Thread: I need help with Blue LED lighting :(

I am in desperate need of decent lighting. I put up the usual spot lights and the mini lights around the palms and it use to be enough for the past years but now I am looking for something a little nicer, not so novice like Ive always admired the pics on here with the graveyards that have the great LED lighting, problem is I have no idea what is the proper light to get. Do I get spot or flood, how many watts, what is par???? Anyone who can help I would be forever in debt

Please I only have a few days left til the big day and I think I want to redo the whole thing. I think I want to ditch the little tree lights and go with all spots and ambiance! Anyone anyone at all???? Also where on earth do I find these lights???? Uggggh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease someone out there has to be able to help me. I just came in and I just dont love my lights. I have a great crypt with isabella the great fcg, she has a black light, I have decent tombstones and some new ground breaker coffins, but somehow the lights arent cutting it

My LED lights are from Minions Web - Halloween Portal and Online Store: Minions Webber Cobweb maker, cob web shooter, web gun, webbing spinners, hot melt adhesive glue sticks, Air Cannon, Effects, Halloween Portal, Haunt Products, Hallow-links.com, Projects, How To pages, . They are Edison base (like a regular light bulb) par 20. Par is the overall size of the bulb--smaller par # = smaller bulb. Larger par bulbs resemble traditional floodlights. My biggest LED spot/floods are 36 LED, which are small to mid-sized. My yard isn't huge (maybe 40'W X 30'D), so anything bigger would just be too much. I have 2-3 of the 36 LED blues, and some smaller lights (12 & 18 LED) in different colors (amber, red, green, UV) for accents.

All of the bulbs that I have fit the green plastic and metal stake lights sold at Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Previously I used the colored incandescent floods, which got hot and melted stuff, used a ton of power, peeled off over time... While the LED bulbs are more expensive, you'll save the difference just in electricity the first year! Since they don't get boiling lava hot, it's easier to place them without scorching props or plants or hands!

I'm a believer, can you tell? Check out the lighting tutorial at -Skull And Bone- too. There's a discussion about use of shadow and working warm light in with the cool blue--VERY useful!

Have any of you used the Minions LED spots? It's not really clear how bright these are for the different models. Are the 12 LED models good enough for a wall wash from ground to roof?

No, the 12 LED's wont even come close. I have the 12's, 18's, 36's and 50's. I do not recommend purchasing the 12's for much of anything. I use the 18's for direct highlighting of my props (although they do throw out some decent output), the 36's for spread and the 50's for back lighting. Depending on how much of a spread you are looking for the 18's, 36's and 50's will due, although I recommend purchasing the 36's or 50's for background lighting with the 50's obviously throwing a wider spread.

Like rupertooo said, the 12 LED won't come close. The 12s are pinspots, good for individual props. I use 3 green 36 LED lights for subtle uplights on my 2 story house, and they do the trick nicely.

How many lights do you use?Do you put spots on each prop?
I bought led's this year and love them but want to improve on my lighting.I have 6 120 led blue -2 120 red led-2- 120green and pvc candles around 15 or so.I like how it looks but would like it to look better so thinking smaller spots on some props would be good.

Check out my pictures. All of this lighting is done with the 36-LED spots from MinionsWeb with the exception of a 100-watt blue flood 20+ feet up in a tree that is dimmed to about 50% (this is aimed at the front of the cemetery gates):

I used 14 of the Minionsweb bulbs. 3-red, 3-green, 3-blue, 2-uv, 1-white, 1-orange, & 1-yellow
