THat's really a fine set. Did it cost a lot, and did you need to do any damage to your house as it is? I've been wanting to build a walklthrough cemetery in my yard, with a cannibal gore table and a grill. I got 400 watt fog machines, and I'm working on the kinks. Your thing looks like you really know how to build stuff, and it's GREAT.
I wish i could do stuff like that.

Thanks for the kind words all! I have been collecting stuff for several years, so I am not sure of the exact amount that I have spent on props, but I am guessing it's getting close to $1,000.00 now. That was mainly for the skeletons, fog machines and lights.
The remainder of the build was scrap pipe and wood that I (And some neighbors) had left over from remodeling projects. The ropes, and the small row boat were donated to the cause. I found some free pallets on Craig's list last year and this year I scored some more pallets in the dumpster at work.
Out of all of the props that I built, the cannon took the most time. I hod hopes of getting them to actually fire compressed air and smoke this year, but time got the best of me.....so I am hoping to work on that for next year.
There is no damage done to the house at all, as the whole set goes together like a Chinese puzzle. A series of blocks, wedges, clamps and rope hold everything together. Nothing is nailed into the the house itself.
I do OK with a hammer and a saw, but the nice thing about building a haunted Pirate ship is that nothing has to be perfect....it should looked "Wrecked" and I am good at that....
!!! As long as is passes the 25 foot rule (It should look good from 25 feet away).....then I am happy.
The ships hull is comprised of strips of 4" wide bender board that gets screwed into a main bow post at the front and then back to two 2x4 posts that are clamped to the main deck supports. I then draped camo netting and "Freaky fabric" over the sides.
Behind the bow is a blue flood light, a fog machine and a thunder and lightening machine. The effect at night is pretty cool!
I am pretty fortunate to have an old house with a large attic. All of the skeletons, lights and small props go into rubbermaid tubs and are stored in the attic. The cannon, decking pallets, bow sections and mast base get stored under the house.
The two largest props are the row boat sections and the 18' mast. These get stored out of the way on the side of my house. Weather is not a concern as the more weathered they get, the better they look!Thank ye matey, from the bottom of me scurvy heart......"One Eye'd" Mick
The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

My lovely bride decided that I didn't have enough light on the bow of the ship....so I added two more blue spotlights and changed out the blue spotlight that I had behind the bow for a yellow one.....Damn, I think she was right.....
