I am building an archway for my cemetary entrance out of 3/4" PVC. I was just going to wrap lights around the post when I had an idea. What if I drilled small holes in the pipe and ran a rope light inside the pipe, giving it a "glow" from the inside.
Has anyone done this? Is it a lame idea? I plan on testing with some scrap tonight, but if others have tried it and it didnt work, then I wont waste my time.
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks Toymaker, I will give it a try and see what I can come up with.

I wrapped a rope light around a PVC pipe a few years ago , not a good idea.
Rope light gets really hot and in my case it melted the PVC pipe.
So , be careful with that.

I guess if you used the newer LED rope lights heat wouldn't be a problem.

Haven't tried LED rope lights. I think Dave is right about the heat issue with LEDs. Worth the try. Regular Christmas lights should work fine .
