I really would like to build one, but do not have the time\cash for pneumatic this year.

I was thinking a power drill connected to a irregular piece of wood to get the random movement and thumping. Also throw in a red light of some sort as well.

An old tape player with monster sounds on it to the same internal power strip?

Maybe use a remote power on\off as a trigger as we will be around the house mostly.
