Thread: Gel Things Are Terrible

For Halloween, and Christmas, they have been selling these gel things. Well, first off when I put them on a wall, they stained the wall, and I understand they are made for windows, but why does it stain the wall? If that's bad enough, after only a year or maybe 2 of those things, they won't even stick on the window anymore. Junk things.

I couldn't agree with you more. I like the look of the ones that go on the window that look like dripping blood, but they take FOREVER to untangle, put up and stay up. I skipped it this year and probably won't get them again.

ive got some and we store it between sheets of cellophane...

We have had these for a few years now and they still are good as new....

And also slighty dampen them to help them stick...Only slightly though....

I totally agree. I got them last year and it was more of a hassle than it was worth

I was going to buy the window hand ones, I wonder if you wash them in dish washing detergent they'll get sticky again..I remember my mum doing this wish those sticky wall crawler things years ago they always used to get dust and stuff stuck to them.

Most packages of gel designs say that you should NOT put them on any porous material as they will stain. Obviously something leeches out of them and gets absorbed leaving a stain in the process. Hence calling them window clings where little damage would be done.

I still like using these on my windows and mirrors. Always make sure the glass surface is clean of dirt. I usually use a little bit of water like mentioned above. I also store mine in the original packaging and haven't had adhesion problems with those I purchased some time ago.

I won't buy them again. My lil girl thinks its fun to pull them apart, now none of my spiders have legs!

I love them on the tile walls in my bathroom, the back of the toilet, and the mirror - I store them between plastic plates. Of what I bought, one of the big "blood drip" ones is too heavy to hold its own weight, but the rest have been great.

It seems pretty clear that they're meant for tile & glass, I'm shocked anyone would think to put them on a painted or plaster wall and not expect a mess - or read the packaging.

I haven't tried the gels yet. I was going to pick some up and use them on my window but, money was just too short for whimsical stuff. I have bought the clings over the years and always put them back on the original packaging sheets but, even after a few years they are even worthless due to not staying flat anymore or loosing the clingyness. And why do they always put the glow in the dark material on the INSIDE! I want them to be seen from outside.
