Hey guys, I took apart an electric shovel and salvaged the motor. It works great and has LOTS of juice but I need to slow it down...it's WAAAAAYYYY too fast. Any suggestions how I could slow it down?

Wire in a dimmer switch maybe? You'll probably lose torque as you slow it down, though!

I don't know what an electric shovel is but maybe an router speed control from harbor freight would work. - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices
Or maybe a gear reduction would work. Put a small pulley on the motor and a larger pulley on what you want to drive and the larger pulley will be going slower than the one on the motor.

If it provides 12 V you should look up to get an old computer power supply (really cheap) and a suitable resistor maybe an adjustable one. That's all you would need.

    Hope to helped you.
