Hallow all! (I know, I know... that's old... hehe)
I had this thought... I'd like to hear some feedback on the idea of creating a CGI / flash / animated video of singing busts (a'la Disney's Haunted Mansion)?
So many people have set up (or tried to) a singing bust projection using the original footage which has been spliced together and distributed throughout the yardhaunt realm.
How difficult would it be to create a cgi animated version of the 4 (or 3 or 5) busts and time that to Grim Grinning Ghosts (or This is Halloween or the Headless Horseman)? All done to a black background suitable for projection onto manequin heads.
My though is that this would allow better coreography between the music and the singers (ie. opening mouths) as it could be adjusted as needed. Also, one who has experience creating such animations would have total control over the look and the lighting making them ideal for projection?
I imagine this could not be something the creator could make money off of as there would be certain copyright issues. And I realize that what I'm suggesting here is work for other people, because I certainly don't have the skills to do this myself... But thought it might make an interesting project? BradNT, ImaginEERIEing... hint, hint...

Im doing a CGI animated bust this year! themed around the headless horseman. I'm using Flash and Crazytalk.
A complete 3d animated bust would be very difficult to achieve. Crazytalk is a program that makes it possible for anyone to create this effect!
Anyone can use Crazytalk!

Eyegor, I can't thank you enough for showing me this! I haven't purchased the full version yet but this is the ultimate tool for creating "haunted / singing bust" effects!!!
My first attempt was actually a portrait of Edgar Allan Poe reciting "The Raven". If I can do it, I might just be able to get it into my haunt this year! Next year, though... I plan to have the 4 singing busts ready and available for anyone who wants it! I can't wait to get this done!!!"Look Honey, they have... uhm... 'Dead People' in the backyard!"

Mr Grimsley I found this thread and want to ask, did you come up with anything for the singing busts? I would be very interested in it and if you have a "How to" to go with it.

I would look at the Davis Graveyard web sight. They have a talking bust in their haunt. It does not sing but I am sure the basic principles will help.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

I am hoping to get hold of the CrazyTalk 6 Pro software in the New Year and if I can find time, I plan on attempting to try this project. If anyone can provide good quality stills of the Disney Haunted Mansion characters, I'd appreciate it.

Crazytalk seems pretty cool.
But I think getting a character bust to properly project onto is the key to pulling off this effect.
unless you were to take pics of a few different busts that you already have and animate them.
so the projection will mate up with the bust.
