So I burned out my 3rpm motor last Halloween and decided to upgrade to a wiper motor for my coffin prop. In its previous incarnation it was hinged on one side and would open on the opposite.

This year, I'd like to recreate the opening coffin from the Haunted Mansion, which looks like it opens up vertically, rather than on a hinge opening from one side only.

My question is, how do I get my wiper motor to open vertically without it shifting from side to side?

Here's a video of the HM coffin for reference:

Fast forward to 3:42 to see it.

    Thanks in advance!!!

To me it looks like it has a hinge on the bottom of the casket and the top end lifts up.

Oh man, just had a "DUH" moment. All I need to do is turn my motor 90 degrees so that the arm points towards the foot of the coffin (rather than the sides) and that will prevent it from rocking side to side. And then put a hinge at the foot.

    Thanks for your help!
