I've build the laser vortex from this thread.
Laser Vortex for $30 How-To
I was wondering if anyone had an idea how to set up a timer for it, so that it goes off in intervals of a few minutes, then shuts off for s few, etc... It's run off 6 volts of dc power (4 D-cell batteries). Thanks for any input.

Sure. A 555 oscillator will do the job.
LM555 Timer Circuits
Scroll down to the Basic Astable Oscillator schematic. You'll need to attach a small relay to the 555 output to control the laser.I...have many names...

Hey thanks, I appreciate the help. It might take me a while to figure out exactly how to work this, I used to build stuff like this all the time when i was younger, but I'm a bit rusty, this points me in the right direction though.

If you need help, just holler. The circuit you need is easy to build - it'll come back to you.

Yeah if anyone could simplify this schematic up a bit for me, I'd appreciate it. I think I killed the brain cells that held this info in my brain.
