I'm currently working on building a large spider prop (Charlotte) from paper mache and I want to give her flashing red eyes for that "extra something special." Any suggestions on how to achieve this effect, preferably without the risky business of putting holes in her?

Simple (no solder or resistor) LED light
I could see making small slits or even pockets out of paper maché that hide the battery but let the light stick out...they wouldn't flash, tho.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

If you can do a bit of soldering (or not) you can use one flashing LED and one non-flashing LED wired in series with the appropriate resistor. Both LEDs will flash at the same rate. The only thing is that you don't get to adjust the flash rate - it's whatever the flashing LED wants to do. If soldering is out of the question, you should be able to assemble the LEDs with some good electrical tape.
I...have many names...
