So I made some skelly hands for the coffin I animated. I used Air hardening clay from Michael's and some floral wire. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.

Basically they are the shape of Tootsie Rolls that I squished the ends and made a crease with the scissors on each end. Once that was done, I pushed the wire through.
