I want to build some temporary walls to look like a room. (basically like a three wall set like you have on SNL). Are there any tutorials here, or on the web, about building walls like that? I was thinking of maybe something using foam insulation and wallpaper/paneling, but I'm not sure if that would work well.

    Check out this thread:

    Wall partitions

Are you planning on reusing them or are they a one-time setup?
I made a frame out of 1x2's and stapled some cardboard on.
Total cost of that : about $3 ( for the lumber ).
To make a set out of those panels , you can either use scene setters or you can make your own like I did. I used 1/2" and 1/4" styrofoam which is also pretty cheap. Of course , it'll take a lot more time to build your walls than just using scene setters.

they'll only be a one time thing, but I'm actually wanting to use them to shoot video that I'll have on the TV on Halloween. But I want it to look like it's actually a room. Problem is, I want to splatter fake blood on the walls during the video, and also I don't have a room like the one I want to build. I was thinking of constructing it in my garage, since that's the most open space area. But it should look like a bedroom, like you would find in a doublewide trailer. Cheap wood paneling, or ugly wallpaper, dingy, etc. Might be too big of a task.

Search this forum for "facade" and/or "walls"... I think there are even threads about this on the first page of this section...

You can go with the creepy wallpaper scene setters. They are relatively cheap and come in 50ft rolls. And if you build those cheap wall panels I was talking about , you should be set. Shouldn't take more than a few hours to complete the whole room scene.

scene setters, from what I've seen, are more halloween specific. I want to make it look like a room you could find in a run down home. Like a dingy doublewide trailer bedroom, or something to that effect. It's ok, I'm probably biting off more than I can chew anyway.
