With it now being about a decade since the Douglas Fir Talking Christmas Tree was produced, I was just curious if any entrepreneurial company has produced a "bare bones" Dougie for prop builders.

    Anybody know?

This was a Gemmy classic although there were a few knock-offs by other companies (small cheaper versions) they were all basically the same. The best dougies were the larger one's by Gemmy (30 inches or taller) that had an external audio jack or came with a cassette player.

At one time I had about 20 of these, they were dirt cheap on Ebay. Once people figured out how to make skulls out og them, the price jumped quickly.

This is what started the Skulltronix skulls, Mike Fox made a talking skull from a Dougie I believe.

Well, there's Boris, which is essentially the same thing in a skull.

Last year Gemmy made a smaller version, but he didn't have the external audio jack. I found several at "Family Dollar" and bought a bunch of them. I am wondering if they are going to sell the smaller version again this year.

I have also found several of the older ones at thrift stores and I grab them when I can. Some work well, others don't but if they have the external jack at least I can use that for something.

    Good luck!
