Anybody know of a source for a full-sized cauldron (reasonably priced and not real iron) or else an idea how to make a believable prop? (Something like the following?)

I'd like to go all out and include a fake cooking fire. In the cauldron I'm planning lights, bubblers and a mist maker/fogger — So the pot itself needs to be waterproof.

    Suggestions, directions or links appreciated.

Something like this? About half way down. Or the original from scareFX Here

Mr. Unpleasant: That is a VERY cool prop. The Cauldron is more "cylindrical" than what I would prefer (pot belly), but I will keep it in mind as a plan B.

Litemare: I will follow up on your lead. Thanks.

2 ideas. Check warehouse-type hardware stores like Lowes and Home Depot in their garden dept. for planters on clearance. there may be a kettle-type you can use.
If you're into DYI-ing, look at yard sales and thrift stores for a large (75-80 cm) exercise ball, preferably with the stability feet. Make a lip w/ cardboard, then paper mache the ball/cauldron. The rough surface texture might enhance the look. Pop the ball, remove it, and coat the whole thing with rubberized paint, even a latex asphalt sealer. Heavy wire for a handle, and viola!
Note - I've never done this myself, but it sounds feasible...

they were still high on a shelf so I couldn't get a price check, my party city has hardly begun to unpack.

ChrisW is correct - adding paper mache can change the cauldron for the better. Dave the Dead has done some cool stuff with off-the-shelf caludrons using oatmeal as a texturing agent. The one in the pic has a full mache coating. I used toilet paper rolls to put legs on the bottom.

Whoa! EB, that is a very nice job on the cauldron. I like the skull supports, very appropriate!
