Here is a link to my Voodoo Queen and moving Ouija board from last year's haunted house.

Keep in mind, this is with the lights on so much less scary!

This year, I have purchased a four bar pneumatic riser. I am going to mount the Voodoo Queen to the riser. I will position her off to the left in the dark.
I have ordered a fake rattlesnake.
Namely this one. Safari's Diamondback Rattlesnake, Toy Fake Rattlesnake
I have a motion detector which will activate the riser and a sound file that will be played through my new Cowlicous sound board.

The video plays the sound file that I am going to add while the queen rises holding the rattlesnake. It is a scream following by snake hissing and rattles sounds.

I aim to scare this year. Last year I had too many high school kids that did not seem to be scared at all.

Let me know if you think this is scary enough or should I raise the scare meter some more. Maybe real snakes! just kidding.

    By the way
The Voodoo Queen is a Spirit prop that I found at their store here in Atlanta.
I have not seen her any where else at all.

How do you get the Ouija board piece to move on its own? Is that part of the pre-made prop, or did you have to come up with your own method for that?

It is a very simple prop to make.
I got the idea from Daveinthegrave last year.
    Dave's Haunted Ouija Board
The only thing I did different was that I built a little table out of plywood and 2x2 wood. The top of the table has a hole with a platform underneath.
The motor actually from one of those Christmas reindeer. The motor will reverse when it hits something. I dont remember the website that I bought the motor from but if you Google it you will find it. It was only about $20.
I printed the Ouija board from images from Google images and covered it with clear plastic. Total cost was about $40.

Is it going to be a sudden lunge upwards? If so, that's a good effect.
Startle scares are the BEST way of getting people... especially the teenagers.

    Oh yes
    That is my idea.
I will either have totally out of view or sitting in view in the corner away from the table. When people get close enough to the table, she will come up and forward, reach and scream with the rattlesnakes sound. I am waiting on the four bar device to arrive but I will post video when I get it mocked up.

    I LOVE scaring teenagers!!!

    HauntCrazy,

Could you tell me if this is the type of motor that I would need? Animated Deer Motor

I think I could come up with a way to build the box, but I have absolutely zero experience with any type of motors. Would I just have to mount it to the Ouija board prop, or is there wiring/electrical work involved?

    Thanks for your help!

BTW, sorry I got so sidetracked with wanting to know how to make this that I forgot to mention that I LOVE your prop! The idea is amazing and it would definitely scare me!

Yes, that is the type of motor you need.
You don't have to do any electrical work.
You just need something on both sides to stop it and make it reverse.
The motor automatically reverses when it hits something.
I just used deck screws. Look at the second video on Dave's Haunted Ouija Board from the link in the previous reply. It shows exactly how to set it up.
    Good luck.

My new rattle snake arrived today.
    Here are some photos.

The Voodoo Queen will be holding this as she lunges up and forward towards guests.

Ok, here is my Voodoo Queen with snake.
The prop is triggered by motion which also sets off the sound board.
    Hope you like!!!
